Successful Election Coverage

Radio Khwezi was present at the election in Nquthu Municipality

under uMzinyathi district on 24 May 2017. All eyes were on this municipality because electing a council that was going to lead this municipality in last year’s local government elections in 3 August 2016 was not successful. As a result it was decided that on 24 May the community of Nquthu would vote again in order for this municipality to be governed. The IEC (Independent Electoral Commission) hosted this election and made sure that the proceedings went according to standard. Various political parties were also present. The security was tight at all voting stations and the police were visible to make sure that these elections ran smoothly. Prominent political party leaders of KwaZulu-Natal were also part of this election, and political parties worked together to make these elections peaceful.
